This was a game not only of two halves but of two midfields. In the first half we dominated play and deservedly went in 1-0 up although we didn't test their goalkeeper much. In the second half although they had a lot of the play they didn't penetrate our defence which was solid with the four defenders all playing well which can't be said of the Derry defence who I thought we very suspect both in the air and on the ground. We should have punished them in the second half having created a number of chances but were hit with a sucker punch late on when they scored with their first shot on target. I thought we sat too deep and allowed them to come out of defence too easily, would have liked to have seen young Neil Dougan get a run out and have a go at their defence especially with Philip Lowry tiring near the end. Whatever I said about Crangle the other week I take back as he gave us virtually nothing all night and how their #4 escaped a booking is beyond me and to add insult to injury he was voted MOTM - whoever chose that must have had their eyes painted on!
Goal scorer: Peter Thompson.
